CFRS 510 Digital Forensics Analysis
This course deals with the collection, preservation, and analysis of digital media such that the evidence can be successfully presented in a court of law (both civil and criminal). The relevant federal laws will be examined as well as private sector applications. The seizure, preservation, and analysis of digital media will be examined in this course.
CFRS 661 Digital Media Forensics
This course deals with the collection, preservation, and analysis of digital media such that the evidence can be successfully presented in a court of law (both civil and criminal). The relevant federal laws will be examined as well as private sector applications. The seizure, preservation, and analysis of digital media will be examined in this course.
This course focuses on memory forensics, specifically the investigation, analysis and acquisition of artifacts that reside in random access memory (RAM). Memory forensics provides an evidentiary goldmine of unique digital artifacts with regards to computer forensics and digital investigations such as intrusions and malware infections.
CFRS 762 Mobile Device Forensics
This course will familiarize students with mobile forensics. We will focus on data types, storage, acquisition, and analysis of data from mobile devices. Students will utilize industry best practices for acquisition, analysis, and presentation of data from mobile devices. This class will be a mixture of lecture and hands-on acquisition and analysis.

Bob Osgood
Director – DFCA
Bob Osgood is the Director of Mason’s Digital Forensics and Data Analytics programs. Bob is an accomplished, proactive professional with expertise in developing and applying analytics to law enforcement with combined experience and achievement in the areas related to Digital Forensics.
Jim Jones
Professor – DFCA
Jim Jones is an Associate Professor in the Digital Forensics and Cyber Analysis program, Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, at George Mason University.He has been a cyber security practitioner, researcher, and educator for over 20 years in various industry, government, and academic roles.
Sarah Davis
GTA – DFCA
Sarah Davis is the Graduate Teaching Assistant for the Digital Forensics and Cyber Analysis program at Mason. Sarah has a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science and is continuing her education in Mason’s CFRS program.
